Being A Hindu
Hindu Parents Network is excited to offer a four-week online camp for middle schoolers (Ages 10-15) and teens- “Being a Hindu” as part of their BEAUTIFUL TREE PROGRAM.
Children attending the program will explore Hindu Dharma through captivating stories, rich history, and timeless values. Utilizing traditional Indian storytelling methods, participants will delve into the lives of key historical figures and unforgettable heroes from our past who paved the way for our future.
The program’s goal is to instill in our children a sense of understanding and appreciation for the world’s most ancient continuous living civilization, so they are familiar with their roots and are confident of their Hindu identity.
Camp Highlights
Week 1: Hindu Dharma Through Stories & Five Core Hindu Principles
Children will explore the essence of Hindu Dharma through captivating stories that illuminate four foundational principles. Each principle is brought to life through real-world examples, showing how this timeless wisdom continues to guide and inspire daily life.
Week 2: Dharma, Religion, and Being Different
In this week, children will explore the difference between Dharma and religion, and how Dharma acts as a practical guide for right action — in daily choices, relationships, and in the world around them.
This week focuses on:
- What Dharma really means — beyond rituals and beliefs
- How Dharma applies to everyday life and decisions
- How being different — in thought, belief, or culture — can be a source of strength, not confusion
- Navigating real‑world situations where values and identity intersect
Week 3: Ramayana Beyond Stories
In this week, students will go deeper into the Ramayana, not just as a narrative, but as a guide to understanding character, duty, friendship, leadership, and courage.
Children will:
- Explore themes like dharma in action, sacrifice, and resilience
- Reflect on real‑life applications of lessons from Rama, Sita, Hanuman, and Lakshmana
- Discuss how the Ramayana teaches us to stand strong with dignity and love
Week 3: Mahabharata Beyond Stories
The Mahabharata is not just a story of war — it is a profound exploration of choice, ethics, duty, and consequence.
In this week, students will:
- Discuss key characters and their moral dilemmas
- Understand how the Mahabharata answers questions about right action in complexity
- Reflect on how Krishna’s guidance in the Bhagavad Gita can shape courage, purpose, and clarity
Games, Quizzes, and Activities (All Weeks)
Interactive learning is woven throughout the camp experience. Dharma-based games, team quizzes, and creative projects reinforce key lessons in a fun, collaborative way, keeping campers actively engaged while deepening their understanding.
