In the early sixteenth century, Tenali Rama was a jester in the court of King Krishna Deva Raya, the ruler of Vijayanagara in south India. Known for his sharp wit, intelligence and sense of humour, Tenali Rama was one of the eight pillars in the Vijayanagara court.
